Kenshi Yonezu's My Hero Academia Season 2 Anime Opening Song Certified Gold by RIAA
Sony Music announced today that Kenshi Yonezu's seventh single song "Peace Sign," which was featured as the first cour opening theme for the My Hero Academia Season 2 TV anime in 2017, has been officially certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The organization awards Gold and Platinum certifications based on sales in the United States; the "Gold" certification is awarded to songs that have marked the milestone of over 500,000 units.
Yonezu's 2022 song "KICK BACK" (TV anime Chainsaw Man opening theme) received RIAA's Gold certification in August 2023 and Platinum certification in September 2025. With this latest certification, he has become the only artist to have received RIAA certification three times for a song with Japanese lyrics.
As Yonezu's seventh single, "Peace Sign" released in Japan on June 21, 2017, ranking second in Oricon's weekly single charts. The song's music video's cumulative total view count on his official YouTube channel has surpasses 330 million times.
